The B2 Estonian state language exam certifies upper-intermediate proficiency — the ability to understand complex texts, communicate fluently on a wide range of topics, and produce clear, detailed written work. It is required for most higher-level professional and academic positions in Estonia.
The next B2 exam is on 30 May 2026.
B2 is required for teachers, doctors, lawyers, and other regulated professions, as well as for university admission to Estonian-language programs.
Registration is through the Keeleamet portal. Deadlines are typically 5–6 weeks before the exam date.
The B2 exam tests advanced listening, reading, writing (essay + formal correspondence), and an extended oral interview covering professional and abstract topics.
B2 is the hardest exam most working adults take. The oral and written components require sustained fluency, not just vocabulary. Plan for 6–18 months of preparation from B1 level.
Estly's B2 vocabulary set focuses on the domain-specific and abstract vocabulary that differentiates B2 from B1. Build your active vocabulary with daily practice.
